Labour MSP Daniel Johnson has called plans for a new referendum on Scottish independence a “mistake”, saying it could be as bad as Brexit. The slamming came after Nicola Sturgeon announced this week that her Government was resuming work on its plans to hold a new poll on Scotland’s membership of the United Kingdom by the end of 2023.
“It disrupts supply chains, pushes the prices up in our pockets.
“And when you see disruption, you don’t correct a mistake by making another mistake.

Scotland’s first minister believed that holding an independence referendum in the next two years is realistic.
The plans are to hold an independence referendum by the end of 2023.
The First Minister said that regardless of whether or not Scotland becomes independent, the next few years would be difficult for Scotland.
Mr Robertson argued that the Scottish people should have a say about “Scotland’s future”.
He said on BBC Debate Night: “Brexit is a catastrophe
“We are paying a price.
“We didn’t vote for it in Scotland, and the sooner we can get back into the single European market and the European Union, the better.”
No 10 has said it intends to block indyref2, but Ms Sturgeon said it was realistic to plan for one by the end of 2023.
The SNP leader argued it was right that the country’s future.
She said there were “big decisions” to be taken as Scotland emerges from the pandemic about what kind of country, society, and economy it wants to be.
SNP Westminster leader Ian Blackford has previously told his team: “We will be moving into a new phase of independence campaigning when we return in October.
“I will be addressing this in more detail with the group when we return from recess.”
