Sajid Javid launched in a passionate defence of his strategy as Kay Burley pointed out vaccinated Britons still have a 37 percent risk of passing on COVID-19 if they catch it. Mr Sajid insisted his policy was focussing on “minimising” the risks, taking issue with Ms Burley casting doubts about the efficacy of the jab order. The Health Secretary said: “We don’t live in a risk-free world. This virus, we’re learning about it all the time.

“It’s our duty to make sure we’re doing everything we can, using all the tools we have to protect people.

“The announcement was about protecting the most vulnerable people in our society.

“We already know anyone who’s in hospital, they’re there because they’re vulnerable, there’s already something making them ill and the last thing you want is to expose them to this virus.”

The Sky News presenter said: “37 percent chance is still high though, isn’t it? Wouldn’t it…”

But Mr Javid did not allow her to continue, erupting: “What would you like, Kay? Would you like a 100 percent chance?”

Ms Burley tried again to resume her questions: “I was just about to go on if I may.”

However, the Tory frontbencher appeared to lose his composure as he launched in a short rant: “37 percent chance, you say it’s quite high, but I say 80,90 percent is a lot higher.

“And I think your viewers, listening to this programme would understand that this is about minimising the risk.

“This is a horrid virus, sadly we know so many people who have been affected. I’ve lost loved ones to this.”
