The first set of Brits and Afghan refugees have arrived in the United Kingdom after Kabul fell to Taliban troops on Sunday.

The passengers arrived at an RAF base in Oxfordshire in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

They landed in an Airbus KC2 Voyager at RAF Brize Norton, 75 miles away from London.

The news comes after the UK agreed to take 20,000 Afghan refugees over five years.

MPs will reconvene in the House of Commons later today for an emergency debate on how to respond to the crisis in Afghanistan.
