An eleven-year-old schoolboy has died after shooting himself during a lesson on Zoom, reports say.

Adan Llanos was found fatally-injured by his sister on Wednesday morning after she heard a gunshot inside their Woodbridge home in California, USA, police said.

Spotting her brother was in a Zoom class but with his audio and video off, she told Adan's teacher what had happened before finding a neighbour who called 911, the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office said.

Adan's parents rushed to his side in hospital where they shared with him his final moments.

A fundraising page for his funeral expenses was launched by Adan's aunt, Alejandra Carillo on Thursday morning.

Carillo wrote online before seemingly removing it, "today was a very difficult day for our family," according to Metro.

She reportedly said: "We just lost our nephew from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. His name is Adan Llanos and was only 11 years old.

"I know Aron and Mirna are such great parents, I can’t even imagine what they are going threw. (sic)"

Local police have not confirmed what happened in Adan's bedroom when he took his own life but Paul Warren, the support director at Adan's school, said he had seen more pupils suffer from anxiety and depression.

He blamed the impact of the coronavirus which has left children unable to socialise with friends and disrupted their routines, the outlet reported.

Lodi Unified School District shared their condolences following the news and offered support for students.
