Colorado road conditions: Heavy morning snow causes messy commute

Colorado drivers should try to avoid roads on Tuesday morning. Heavy snow is expected around the Denver area through 11 a.m. today, making roads slick and visibility poor, the National Weather Service said.

All lanes of westbound Interstate 70 were closed around 7:30 a.m. at Federal Boulevard due to a jackknifed truck in the area. Drivers should use alternate routes.

Wheat Ridge police department went on accident alert around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday and was urging drivers to wait until visibility improves.

Loveland Pass on U.S. 6 was closed early this morning due to adverse conditions.

U.S. 285 was closed in both directions between Red Hill Pass and Kenosha Pass.

Southbound Interstate 25 was closed around 7 a.m. at Castle Pines Parkway (Exit 188) while crews plow the area and remove several stalled vehicles.
