A devoted dad-of-14 has left his children in shock after he died suddenly of a heart attack as the family rally round to fundraise to pay for his funeral.

Bob Ward, 53, collapsed at his home in Rhyl, Wales, after suffering a heart attack and had a stent fitted.

Despite the efforts to save his life, the grandfather-of-five tragically died later.

His sudden death left his 14 children in complete shock and without any money to plan a funeral for their beloved dad.

His children, who are aged between eight and 31, are now looking to pull together to raise cash to give the super dad a good send off.

"We are all heartbroken and miss our dad, but we are extremely grateful to everyone that has donated,” said Bob's eldest daughter Adele Ward, 28.

"Dad was a lovely man. He was always laughing. He really cared about the community and would be the first to offer to help out if he saw a new shop was opening on the high street.

"Everyone who knew him knew what a kind man he was and we miss him so much."

Bob had been complaining of chest pains for several months before his death but his family said he refused to go to the doctor, blaming the pain on his smoking habit.

He collapsed at home on October 14 after suffering a heart attack and was taken to hospital for a stent fitted into his heart that evening.

Doctors diagnosed him with high blood pressure and diabetes, and despite appearing to perk up after his surgery, Bob died two days later on October 16.

At the time of Bob's death, the majority of his children were at his daughter Ebony's house to celebrate her son Jensen's third birthday.

Bob was due to attend the birthday party of his beloved grandson but sadly passed away in hospital with no family able to get there in time.

Stay at home mum Adele, who also lives in Rhyl, Wales, said: "It was such a shock.

"Dad had no life insurance. It was always something he said he would get round to but he was so young and fit and healthy, he just didn't get it done in time."
