Current President Donald Trump has "conceded" as President-elect Joe Biden has finally been given the go ahead to transition into power.
President-elect Joe Biden on Monday was formally given the go-ahead by a federal agency to begin his transition to the presidency, shortly after the battleground state of Michigan certified him as the winner there.
With the rapid-fire developments, President Donald Trump's already languishing efforts to overturn his November 3 defeat appeared to be coming to a close.
The U.S. General Services Administration, an independent agency, informed Biden that his transition – leading up to a January 20 swearing-in – could officially begin.
In a tweet, Trump wrote that GSA Administrator Emily Murphy and her team should "do what needs to be done with regard to initial protocols, and have told my team to do the same."
Last week Mr Trump appeared to have admitted for the first time that Joe Biden won the US election.
The President incumbent tweeted the admission alongside more unsubstantiated claims that the vote had been "rigged".
His attack on the integrity of the US Election has focused largely on mail-in ballots, with his camp also saying that observers were prevented from entering various polling stations and were then made to stand a distance away from the ballot counting machines.

Despite the widespread claims, neither he nor his campaign have yet provided any evidence to substantiate claims of widespread electoral fraud.
Trump's tweet, which appeared alongside a warning from the social media platform stating that claims of election fraud are disputed, read: "He won because the Election was Rigged.
"NO VOTE WATCHERS OR OBSERVERS allowed, vote tabulated by a Radical Left privately owned company, Dominion, with a bad reputation & bum equipment that couldn’t even qualify for Texas (which I won by a lot!), the Fake & Silent Media, & more!"
