Doorbell camera shows ‘scumbag’ thief stealing Christmas presents from doorstep

A "scumbag" thief was caught stealing a Christmas present from the doorstep of a home, as shown in doorbell cam footage of the shocking crime.

In the clip, uploaded on December 10, the heartless grinch brazenly walks up to the front door of the house in Lasswade, Midlothian, Scotland, Daily Record reports.

Concealing his face with a hoodie pulled up, the crook snatches the box from the door and walks off out of the garden.

The selfish man was caught on security camera and now raging family members want the person "named and shamed".

Gary McCormack said the raid had happened at his mum's house and the trainers she had bought him for Christmas had been nicked, pointing out it could just as easily been a gift for the kids that was swiped.

The 30-year-old welder said: "He is a total scumbag.

"My mum had got me some trainers for Christmas and they were waiting in a box at the door.

"As you can see in the video he just seemed to wait until the coast was clear and walked up and took them.

"For me, the trainers are pretty irrelevant, I can buy new trainers if I need.

"What is upsetting is that it could have been a Christmas present for my three-month-old daughter Mia or my stepdaughter.

"It's not about the trainers – it is about a guy going around Bonnyrigg stealing Christmas presents from people's doorsteps.

"We want him named and shamed.

"He could be doing this again to other folks."

Gary's partner Steph posted on social media: "Does anyone know who this disgusting person is!

"Went up to my partner's mum and dad's house and stole a Christmas present that was left at the front door by Hermes.

"Do you feel it’s the perfect time of the year to go around stealing from people's properties!

"Absolute disgusting behaviour!"

In an update on Facebook, Steph said it might be possible for them to get a refund for the missing trainers.
