Entire family killed in crash in between lorries leaving car a ‘ball of metal’

A family of five was crushed to death in a tragic collision between two lorries.

Marcio Ramos de Souza, 45, his wife Dina Charlen, 39, their two young children and 14-year-old niece, Kethenen Wenil were all killed on the road.

The family had been travelling in the same car in northern Brazil on Monday, April 19, when a lorry slowed in front of them and another came from behind.

Firefighters responded to the horrific crash on the BR-316 motorway in Santa Maria do Para, to cut each family member out of the vehicle but all were pronounced dead at the scene.

Federal Highway Police has confirmed an investigation into the five deaths is ongoing.

Video footage shows the family car being crushed between the two lorries.

The second lorry in the fatal incident was reportedly carrying cement as it approached at speed, crushing the car as they hit the breaks.

Distressing pictures show how the car was squashed and "turned into a ball of metal" between the HGVs.
