‘Explosion’ near train station sees firefighters scrambled and one badly injured

At least one person has suffered serious injuries in an "explosion" near Stowmarket train station.

Trains are unable to stop at the platform after the incident, which took place near to the railway station in Suffolk.

A statement from Suffolk Police said: "Police, firefighters and paramedics are currently at the scene of an incident in Station Road, Stowmarket near to the train station.

"At least one person is believed to have suffered serious injuries.

"Members of the public are urged to keep clear of the area."

National Rail wrote in a tweet: "Trains are unable to call at #Stowmarket due to the emergency services dealing with an incident.

"This is expected until the end of the day."

One person tweeted: "Explosion just rocked our house in Stowmarket. We really are having a interesting month in prentice road. I hope everyone is OK?"
