Family man wins £3m piece of paradise after spending £25 on prize draw

A lucky dad has landed a Grand Designs-style "piece of paradise" worth £3million after spending just £25.

Uttam Parmar, 58, is the latest winner of the Omaze Million Pound House Draw and has already got the keys to an ultra-modern Cornish home, despite only buying a ticket last month.

The operations manager from Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Leicestershire has even been handed a whopping £50,000 in cash to help him settle into the home which he describes as the 'best dilemma he's ever had'.

Uttam said: “We’re not sure if we’ll rent, sell or live in it yet – it’s the best dilemma we’ve ever had! Whatever we decide, it’s a life changing win for the whole family!”

The award-winning £3,000,000 four-bedroom Cornish house boasts panoramic views of the Camel Estuary and possible best of all, comes mortgage free with all stamp duty and legal fees covered.

Having bought a ticket for every Omaze Draw since it launched in the UK two years ago, Uttam has helped the fundraising platform donate to multiple charities including Blood Cancer UK.

"Patience really is a virtue,” he said having finally got lucky which he and his wife of 32 years, Raki, 53, found out about while in hospital.

Uttam continued: "We were so excited that we might have won the grand prize, we called our son Aaron to see if the winning entry code matched ours – when he triple checked the numbers matched, we must’ve burst his eardrums screaming down the phone!

"Although, we still didn’t believe we’d won until we got back to our house and Omaze told us in person.

“I’ve entered every Omaze Draw since they started, so patience really is a virtue, as I’ve now won my own piece of paradise – this house is definitely my favourite one they’ve offered!"

The Parmar family which includes 26-year-old son Aaron have holidayed in Cornwall over the years, but now with a place of their own they expect to be hosting plenty of birthday parties for relatives.

"We’re still pinching ourselves," Uttam admitted.

The house is close to an array of fine sandy beaches and even has a dedicated surf wet room. The surrounding area is ideal for a host of outdoor activities including – surfing, sailing, canoeing, water skiing, windsurfing, gig rowing, golf, cycling and scenic coastal walks.

This was the ninth Omaze Million-Pound House Draw and brings the total raised for good causes in the UK to £6,750,000.
