Four drivers traveling over 100 mph caught in Denver speed enforcement operation

Four drivers were stopped Wednesday in the metro area driving over 100 mph as part of a highway speed enforcement by multiple police agencies.

The widespread operation also included vide DUI arrests, recovery of three stolen vehicles and nine commercial vehicle inspections, according to the Denver Police Department.

Denver police wrote 373 citations and 50 warnings, with 331 drivers stopped for going more than 20 mph above the posted speed limit.

Participating police agencies were Arvada, Aurora, Denver, Greenwood Village, Lakeside, Lakewood and the Colorado State Patrol.

A total of 765 citations were written with 238 warnings, according to a Thursday news release. At least 351 drivers were going more than 20 mph above the posted speed limit.

Denver police said the department continues its highway speed enforcement as part of ongoing safety measures.
