France has slowly begun to unlock amid a timid ease of Coronavirus restrictions but one new measure has some French and foreign travellers raging. Under a new move by President Macron, France is accepting fully vaccinated visitors under certain conditions but only if the doses they received were approved by the European Medicines Agency. Those without a jab approved by the EMA will be denied a vaccine certificate.

“That is a green light for those who have been inoculated with Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca, or Janssen,” reported France24.

“If you had your jab outside the EU French social security can give you a certificate to enter French soil.

“But you want to be able to get one of these health passes soon to be required in trains, restaurants, and bars.”

The issue has prompted some French Twitter users to demand action from France’s Health Minister Clement Beaune.

One user demanded to know: “When will we be added to the European Health pass?

“Has he forgotten the millions of French citizens abroad who visit Europe this summer?”

Under a planned decree proposed by Paris, people would need to show a vaccine pass to be able to access cafes, restaurants, and public transport.

It comes after the French President announced during a public address on Monday that Covid jabs would be compulsory from September for health workers.

Macron says France is the 'most attractive country' in Europe

“We must go towards vaccination of all French people, it is the only way towards a normal life.

“A new race against the clock is on,” said the President.

“We may need to ask ourselves the question of mandatory vaccination for all.”

He added: “The country is facing a strong resumption of the epidemic touching all our territory.

“The equation is simple.

“The more we vaccinate, the less space we leave this virus to circulate.”

Jeremy Vine panellist Dominique Samuels launched a blistering rant against Macron‘s vaccine stance on Jeremy Vine on Tuesday.

She said: “It just fuels the conspiracy theories, I think it should be on the basis of choice and not looking to punish people.”
