Prince Harry "oozed alcohol from every pore" and smelled strongly of cigarette smoke while taking part in a posh polo match when a famous US host met him, a book has claimed.
In her new memoir 'Going There', Katie Couric claims the prince's odour when she met him at the swanky event in Brazil — which took place several years before he met wife Meghan Markle — was profound.
She let slip his cavorting and heavy drinking ways during what she describes as his "wild-oats sowing phase".
Harry has admitted to abusing drugs and alcohol during a period in his late 20s and 30s.
Speaking to Oprah Winfrey in a recent Apple TV documentary 'The Me You Can't See', he reflected on how he used substances as an escape.
The Duke of Sussex said: "I was willing to drink, I was willing to take drugs, I was willing to try and do the things that made me feel less like I was feeling.
"But I slowly became aware that, okay, I wasn't drinking Monday to Friday, but I would probably drink a week's worth in one day on a Friday or a Saturday night."

"And I would find myself drinking, not because I was enjoying it but because I was trying to mask something."
In the same documentary, he claimed that things improved after meeting Meghan and being introduced to therapy.
Harry says older members of the Royal Family had previously told him to "just play the game" when it came to the stresses of royal life, but that the new approach allowed him to come to terms with everyday pressures and past traumas in a more positive way.
He also said that he carries the memory of the months leading up to the death of his mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, with him wherever he goes and that it defines him as a person.
"Unfortunately when I think about my mum, the first thing that comes to mind is always the same one over and over again," he emotionally admitted.
"Strapped in the car, seat belt across with my brother in the car as well and mother driving and being chased by three, four, five mopeds with paparazzi on."
"She was always unable to drive because of the tears. There was no protection."
