Prince William and Kate Middleton are set to celebrate ten years of marriage on April 29, after meeting as students at university.
Although for some their love story resembles that of a Disney romance, it's believed it didn't start with singing birds or adorable duets.
It is almost 20 years since the couple first met at St Andrews' freshers, and according to Dr Brian Lang, former vice chancellor at the university, being there gave them a sense of normality.
He said: "We gave them four years in which they could find themselves and find one another.
“Four years in which they could get to know one another, free of intrusion, glare and publicity.”
However, their meeting back in 2002 was anything but a scene from a romantic comedy, reports claim.
It's said Kate awkwardly curtsied in the first year dormitories when they met, writes The Mirror.
She later admitted: “I actually think I went bright red when I met you and sort of scuttled off, feeling very shy.”
Despite the embarrassing encounter, they became good friends and both had other partners when they initially met.
William began studying History of Art with Kate but later swapped to Geography which may have led to the romance blossoming.
He later recalled: “We spent more time with each other, had lots of fun and realised we shared the same interests.
“She’s got a really naughty sense of humour, which helps me because I’ve got a really dry sense of humour, so it was good fun.”

Robert Lacey, a historian, wrote in his book Battle of Brothers that Kate helped William get out of one awkward situation at a party.
He wrote: “Just a month or so into their first term together, they attended a party at which William was getting seriously hit upon by a pushy female student.
"The prince was being polite, but he couldn’t shake her off, and the girl didn’t get the hint — until Kate appeared out of nowhere behind him and put her arms around William.

“‘Oh sorry,’ he said, ‘but I’ve got a girlfriend,’ and he and Kate went off giggling together.”
Their 'official' status wasn't to be for years to come though.
It was while on holiday skiing in April 2004 they were caught kissing and their relationship became public.
Then in 2010, the pair announced that they were engaged with William proposing with his late mother Diana's sapphire and diamond engagement ring.
The Duke of Cambridge later admitted he carried the heirloom around in his rucksack for three weeks before eventually getting down on one knee to pop the question while in Kenya.
A year after, in April 2011, they married at Westminster Abbey in a ceremony watched by what is thought to be two billion people in 180 countries across the world.
They have three children together, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
