Matt Hancock invited women to "get involved in politics" when the allegations of him snogging a millionaire aide in his office broke.

The married Health Secretary was photographed in his Whitehall office kissing Gina Coladangelo.

The Health Secretary has been accused by whistleblowers of cheating on his wife of 15 years, Martha Hoyer Millar, at a time when the UK is still battling the Covid pandemic.

In a now deleted Instagram story that was up at the time the explosive story broke, Matt Hancock invites women to "get involved in politics".

The Instagram post read: "I work alongside some brilliant women. If you're a woman who wants to get involved in politics. SWIPE UP."

Twitter users have been reacting to the story that "hasn't aged well".

One asked: "Did he not know this story was coming?"

Another said: "In light of @MattHancock employing and having an alleged affair with his female aide you’d think this was parody. It’s not."

Other users have been comparing the Instagram story to a Tinder profile, changing the "swipe up" action to "swipe right".

One said: "If you’re a woman who wants to get involved, swipe right."

Hancock hired the 43-year-old Coladangelo with taxpayer's cash last year as coronavirus swept the nation.

He is yet to comment on the claims.

“He has no comment on personal matters. No rules have been broken,” a friend of the Health Secretary told The Mirror.

The Daily Star has contacted the Department of Health and Social Care for comment on the explosive allegations.

The embattled Health Secretary was already under severe pressure after damning evidence from former Number 10 spin doctor Dominic Cummings revealed that Boris Johnson branded Mr Hancock "totally f***ing useless" during the early stages of Covid last year.

The Health Secretary was also accused of lying about PPE provisions, failing care homes and overseeing the extraordinarily costly and failing Test and Trace system.

The Sun has shared images of Mr Hancock and his aide appearing to passionately kiss, which were said to have been taken just after 3pm on May 6.

The PM's ex-aide Mr Cummings said the Health Secretary should have been sacked for lies and fatal failings over PPE, testing and care homes.

He also released text exchanges with the Prime Minister, in which he described Mr Hancock as "totally f***g useless", and mulled over replacing him with Michael Gove.
