Meghan Markle has dropped the first episode of her Spotify podcast Archetypes with her close friend Serena Williams.

In March this year, Meghan announced that the podcast would be called Archetypes and feature conversations with female role models.

And, in the series first episode, the Duchess of Sussex has spoken to tennis legend Serena Williams.

Titled The Misconception of Ambition with Serena Williams, the first episode’s description reads: “Meghan talks to the one and only Serena Williams about the double standard women face when they are labelled "ambitious" and the ripple effects this has on other aspects of their lives.”

Introducing her guest, Meghan told listeners that she wants to talk to somebody who "embodies the spirit of ambition."

And, as Serena appeared for the first time, Meghan's husband Prince Harry even made an appearance, urging Serena to "come and see us soon" in the couple's lavish LA residence.

Serena's appearance comes after the tennis star announced that she would be retiring from the sport after the 2022 US open.

In an interview with Vogue, she confirmed that she would be "evolving away from tennis" after crashing out of this year's Wimbledon championship in the first round.

The release of Meghan's first podcast comes after the former royal received the news that her animated series Pearl has been cancelled by Netflix.

This led some commentators to speculate that the couple might have announced their upcoming UK visit early to enable crowds to gather for Netflix cameras.

Meghan and Harry will visit the UK for the first time together since their Jubilee trip in September.

The Sussexes plan to attend charity events in London and Manchester, and it is not yet known whether they will meet up with other royal family members.
