Meghan Markle once claimed “avoiding drama”, never settling and “wiggling around in a pencil skirt” are the best ways for women to get ahead in the workplace in an unearthed interview.

Back when the Duchess of Sussex was starring in the hit TV show Suits as Rachel Zane, she revealed her top tips for other professional women on how to be a “girl boss.”

In her 2015 interview with InStyle before she met Prince Harry, Meghan said: “I think the biggest part of being a girl boss in the office, at home, or anywhere you go is just knowing your value.

“It's important to flex your intellectual prowess, even if you're wiggling around in a pencil skirt.”

She also advised dressing for the “part you want, not the part you have.”

The Duchess went on to list her tips for professional women, the first of which is the value of the word "no" in setting your own boundaries to make life more comfortable, Fabulous magazine reports.

Meghan also advised that you should feel able to pass tasks on that you simply can’t do yourself to achieve a "higher level of success."

The mum-of-two also said that drama should be avoided as: "You’ll be endlessly happier for it. If you want to do that, save that for drinks after work with your girlfriends."

The former actress advised people to take their breaks and remember the importance of lunch breaks.

Her final tips were in reference to clothing as she said it doesn’t matter if your clothes are “budget or high-end”, they should always fit you and be able to make you feel like a "badass".

She explained that she loves to invest in classic pieces that she can re-wear over time, in colours that can reflect how she or a character is feeling.

Her ideal outfits are ones that fall between classy and cute as Meghan follows a “golden rule” of never showing her cleavage or too much leg at the same time.

She advised that if someone wears a low-cut top, they should balance this out with a skirt that falls to the knee or if they display their legs, their top should be covered up as forcing “sexiness” in your outfit means you "aren't taken seriously."
