The divorce rumours surrounding Donald and Melania Trump’s marriage have been blasted by a former aide as a way to ‘disparage’ the former US President.
Former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer also slammed claims the former First Lady would turn down the role to stay in Florida if Trump decided to run and win the next election in 2024.
Slovenian model Melania and Trump tied the knot in 2005 but their relationship has been hit with rumours of a divorce.
While speaking to The Sun, Spicer said: "I think the reports are absolutely abhorrent and disgusting. I have seen them together for six years.
"I don’t have any insight into their personal relationship but seeing people speculate on the state of their marriage is absolutely deplorable and despicable."
He also said that some people ‘cannot help themselves’ as they try to ‘disparage’ Trump.
Spicer added that it would be Melania’s decision if she would appear at rallies should Trump run for presidency again.
Since Trump officially left office in January, the former First Lady has not been in the public eye, leading to reports she would remain away from rallies.
Melania has been seen just once publicly over the summer when she was spotted leaving Trump Tower with her son Barron.
According to CNN, an unnamed source alleged that Melania wouldn’t appear at campaign events.
Lara Trump and Kimberly Guilfoyle, who are the partners of Trump’s sons Eric and Don Jr, would be the most likely candidates to take her place on any future campaign trail.

Speculation continues to mount over whether Trump will launch a 2024 bid after the former president upped his appearances.
