Met Police officer charged with raping Tinder date at Premier Inn

A serving Metropolitan Police officer has been charged with raping his Tinder date, a court has heard.

David Carrick, 46, who serves in the parliamentary and diplomatic protection command, allegedly raped his online date after meeting her for drinks on September 4, 2020.

The cop, who claims to have guarded Boris Johnson through his work, has denied attacking the woman after they shared a few drinks at two pubs in St Albans.

The court heard today that the police officer was charged with raping the woman at a Premier Inn in St Albans, reports The Sun. He was remanded into custody to next appear at St Albans Crown Court next month on November 1.

The officer met the woman on dating site Tinder on September 4 last year, the court heard.

Carrick appeared, wearing a white shirt, via video link at St Albans Magistrates Court from a police station in Stevenage.
Chief Magistrate Paul Goldspring, who appeared via video link at Westminster Magistrates' Court, remanded the officer in custody.
He said: "You will be remanded in custody until you appear at St Albans Magistrates' Court on November 1."

Scotland Yard said the claims were made against PC Carrick, who is based within the Met's Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection Command, on Friday.

Carrick is based within the armed unit stationed in Westminster, and is responsible for the protection of sensitive sites such as Downing Street.

Defending Carrick, Ryan Dowding confirmed his client had been suspended from duty and said he "emphatically denies" the allegations.

In response to the latest development, Met Commissioner Cressida Dick said: “I am deeply concerned to hear the news today that an officer from the Met’s Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection Command has been arrested and now charged with this serious offence.

"I fully recognise the public will be very concerned too.

“Criminal proceedings must now take their course so I am unable to comment any further at this stage.”
