The Daily Telegraph reported in 2008 that Glitter, real name Paul Gadd, planned to record a new album once he was a free man.
At the time he was quoted as saying: “I have an incomplete album that I want to finish. I have been thinking about the plan during my days in jail. I have sung rock ‘n’ roll for 40 years. After jail, I will continue to rock ‘n’ roll.”
At the time of his comments he was jailed in Vietnam after being convicted of committing obscene acts with two girls, aged 10 and 11.
The sex offender was later released and deported to the UK, and he was convicted of attempted rape, four counts of indecent assault, and one of having sex with a girl under the age of 13 in 2015.
Glitter was one of music's biggest stars in the 1970s.
He has been fitted with a GPS tag to monitor his movements and is will also be on the sex offenders list for life.
When sentenced, Judge Alistair McCreath said in his view there was "no real evidence that" that Glitter had felt remorse for his crimes.

Regarding Glitter's abuse of a 10-year-old girl, the judge said: "It is difficult to overstate the depravity of this dreadful behaviour.
"You did all of them real and lasting damage and you did so for no other reason than to obtain sexual gratification for yourself of a wholly improper kind."
One of of victims, who chose to remain anonymous, spoke to the BBC about the abuse she suffered.
She said: "I met him when a friend took me round his house. She took me there and said, 'Let's go inside.'"
"He showed me photos and a pornographic video.
"My friend said, 'Let's just stay here for a bit, and then we'll go home. He then grabbed me and dragged me into the bedroom, and that's when he did it to me.
"I was scared – really scared, so scared.
"It was bad that he did this to me. He looked like a father figure, but – he did it."
