Archie celebrated his second birthday this week and the royal family posted sweet well-wishes on social media to mark the occasion.
However, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry fans were quick to realise how Prince Charles' tribute to his grandson did not include the Duchess of Sussex.
A royal expert has claimed that it could have been a "deliberate" snub to the royal.
The adorable photo shared by the Clarence House showed Charles, Prince Harry, and baby Archie, after his christening.
The Queen's tribute to her great-grandchild included a snap of Harry, Meghan, and Archie from when they showed their newborn to the world for the first time.
Duncan Larcombe, royal commentator, told Fabulous magazine he saw Charles not releasing a photo with Meghan included as "deliberate".
He said: “It’s pretty daft to leave her [Meghan] out of it given that it wasn’t that many weeks ago she was American TV throwing accusations about the royal family left, right and centre.
“I see that as a deliberate sign of Prince Charles.
Meghan Markle's fans claim she was 'snubbed' in Prince Charles' 'rude' birthday message
“Surely Prince Charles has enough nous to know how sensitive the situation is with his younger son and his wife.
“I’d be very surprised if Prince Charles didn’t know exactly what he was doing.”
He went on to suggest the snap may have been chosen as Charles' 'favourite' or "likely one of the few pictures that he has" with Archie.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex relocated to California after making the decision to step down as senior royals of The Firm last year.
Prince Charles hasn't seen his grandson for over a year since the move.
However, Duncan added the birthday message still had "every intention" of wishing Archie a happy birthday, and is "not an olive branch".
A post on the Royal Family's official Instagram and Twitter pages read: "Wishing Archie Mountbatten-Windsor a very happy 2nd birthday today."
Kate Middleton and Prince William shared a picture from Archie's christening when he was just two months old.
