Prince William and Prince Harry were pictured together in public for the first time since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’ Oprah Winfrey, with their cousin, Peter Phillip’s, the Princess Royal’s son, separating them at their gradfather, Prince Philip's funeral.

The Royals both attended the Duke of Edinburgh's memorial service on Saturday, April 17, after the Duke of Edinburgh died a week earlier at the age of 99.

Buckingham Palace confirmed Harry and William would not walk side by side behind Philip’s coffin the Thursday before, in plans said to have been signed off by the Queen.

Harry and William, who were once extremely close, did not stand next to each other inside St George’s Chapel, and will again be separated by Princess Anne’s son.

The Duke of Sussex jetted in from the US to pay his respects, without wife Meghan Markle, 39, who is heavily pregnant with the couple's second child and did not receive clearance to travel from her physician.

The relationship of the two brothers is believed to have worsened since Harry and Meghan's bombshell interview with Oprah in March.

It featured a number of accusations made against the royal family, one of which was the claim that William's wife Kate Middleton made Meghan cry in a row over bridesmaid dresses before the latter's wedding in 2018.

Harry said he wanted to repair his relationship with his brother, but according to pals of William, it will not be easy for the formerly close siblings to get back on the straight and narrow.

Before Philip's death, it was believed William, 38, and Harry's, 36, first meeting since the Oprah interview would have been for the unveiling of their mother Princess Diana statue in the Sunken Gardens at Kensington Palace on July 1.

It is believed the pair have spoken on the phone shortly after Harry's arrival in the UK on Sunday ahead of their first face-to-face meeting in more than a year. William's wife Kate, 39, is expected to act as peacemaker.

Their relationship took another hit when details of a private conversation between the pair following the Oprah chat were released in the US media.

  • Meghan Markle had a 'special bond' with the Duke of Edinburgh who she 'adored'

Talk show host Gayle King, 66, who is a friend of Meghan, labelled the talks "unproductive".

It was claimed it made William reluctant to speak to his brother for fear of anything he said ending up in the US press.

The pair paid separate tributes to their grandfather after his death was announced.

Harry called Philip, who passed away two months before what would have been his 100th birthday, a master of the barbecue, legend of banter and cheeky right 'til the end".

His brother paid tribute to the "extraordinary" Duke of Edinburgh, adding that he will "support the Queen in the years ahead".

Philip died at Windsor Castle less than a month after leaving hospital following an operation for a pre-existing heart condition and treatment for an infection.

Tributes for the long-serving royal have poured in from around the world.
