Prince Harry made a "dig" about Prince William and Kate Middleton's use of a traditional nanny when Archie was born, according to a royal commentator interviewed for a new documentary.
Omid Scobie, who co-wrote Harry and Meghan's biography Finding Freedom, said somebody told him the pair didn't want an old-fashioned "Mary Poppins" sort of woman bringing up their child.
Prince William and Kate employ Maria Teresa Borrallo as a nanny for their children and she wears a traditional uniform with a bowler hat and is forbidden to use the informal word "kids".
The no-nonsense nanny, trained at the prestigious Norland College, is also said to encourage playing outdoors in all weather and the use of jigsaw puzzles and other traditional games.
But Meghan and Harry want to take a different approach, according to their biographer.
Interviewed for the Channel 4 documentary A Very Royal Baby, Omid said: "I remember speaking to a source close to Harry who said when they welcomed Archie into the world, they did not want a sort of Mary Poppins type of character around their child as he or she grew up.
"I would take that as a slight dig at the Norland nanny style."
Prince Harry prepared to use Diana's funeral footage to further his profile, says expert
Despite knowing what they don't want, it has been alleged Meghan and Harry have struggled to find an alternative
Omid has previously revealed the couple sacked their first nanny within weeks because they believed they were "unprofessional and irresponsible" and failed to settle Archie into a sleeping routine.
They then hired another nanny but let that one go too because the first experience had made them so anxious, according to Omid.

Meghan and Harry have now been living in their fabulous £11.2 million mansion in Montecito, California, for 10 months.
It is not known what their current childcare arrangement is but Omid said they liked the idea of it being "just the three of them" – Harry, Meghan, and Archie – at night.
The documentary A Very Royal Baby airs on Channel 4 Wednesday 19th May at 9pm
