Her majesty has suffered fresh heartache after five-month-old Fergus died at the weekend – just over a month after the death of her husband, the Duke of Edinburgh, at the age 99.
She had walked dachshund-corgi crosses Fergus and Muick most days in the grounds of Windsor Castle.

A Windsor Castle insider told the Sun : “The Queen is absolutely devastated.
“The puppies were brought in to cheer her up during a very difficult period.
“Everyone concerned is upset as this comes so soon after she lost her husband.
“On top of that there’s been the problems with her grandson, Harry.”

As the Queen turned 95, the family hope the new arrivals have comforted the grieving monarch following the death of her husband nearly two weeks ago.
And she is reportedly set to enjoy a "private low-key" birthday with corgi Muick and dachshund-corgi cross Fergus.
A Sun source said the two puppies were given by Prince Andrew, who bought the dogs while his father was ill in hospital last month.
They said: "The Queen did not plan on getting any new dogs as she feared she was getting too old.
