A terminally-ill retired university lecturer was arrested by six police officers in his back garden for baring his bum at a speed camera.
Darrell Meekcom, 55, drew up a “bucket list” of things he wanted to do before he dies after being given the tragic news last month that he had multiple system atrophy.
Among the items was to moon a speed camera, which he ticked off while going past a police mobile unit in Kidderminster, Worcs.
But the disabled dad-of-two and former nurse was left stunned when the cops reported his prank as “indecent exposure”.
Just 20 minutes later three police cars pulled up outside the home of Darrell – who also has Parkinson’s disease and heart and kidney problems – and demanded to be let in.
When he refused, he says officers kicked down the gate before wrestling him to the ground to put him in cuffs.
Mobile phone footage filmed by wife Sarah, 36, shows Darrell calmly telling officers: “I’m terminally ill. I won’t be able to breathe like this. This is ridiculous – I moonied a speed camera.”
The wheelchair-user, from Kidderminster, claims he suffered a blow to the head when he was brought to the ground.
Darrell was taken into custody but released under investigation on suspicion of indecent exposure and dangerous driving.
He added: “The custody sergeant said an officer would be around to officially charge me but I’m just waiting now.”
West Mercia Police said: "Around 1pm on Friday 5 November officers received a report of indecent exposure on Stourbridge Road.
"Officers attended and after a search of the area, located a person of interest.
"A 55-year-old man from Kidderminster was arrested on suspicion of public order offences and dangerous driving and released on bail.
"Enquiries are ongoing."
