Terrifying moment kid throws out of moving car before driver rushes to save tot

This is the heart-stopping moment a child gets thrown out of a moving car when the door left open wide as the driver made a turn to a highway.

The incident happened in southwest Houston on Tuesday (August 16) as dash cam footage sent to ABC News shows what happened near the I-69 Southwest Freeway at Hilcroft.

The clip shows a small child tumbles out of a red hatchback onto the road when it makes a right turn, leaving the rear door swinging wide open.

While the child is staying on the ground, the driver quickly stops the vehicle and runs out to pick up the child.

It's believed the child had not sustained any serious injuries.

Houston police said they did not received any service calls at the scene and had no reports of the incident.

Last month, a teen girl was killed when her friend veered the car off a rural road and smashed into a tree in Hamble-le-Rice, Hampshire.

Katy Bulter, 19, smasehd her silver Toyota Aygo into a tree and shortly realised her friend, Abbie O'Rourke, was unresponsive.

When paramedics rushed them to hospital, Abbie was pronounced dead and a post-morten examination revealed that she died of multiple injuries.

The court heard that the teenager tested negative for drugs and alcohol.

Butler, was charged with a single count of causing death by careless/inconsiderate driving.

She pleaded guilty to the offence which happened on December 5, 2019.

Judge Nicolas Rowland gave her an 18-month community order, 80 hours of unpaid work and disqualified her from driving for 12 months.
