Vet ‘filmed himself having sex with dogs in his care and was with boy, 15’

A Miami vet has appeared in US court after he was allegedly caught with images of him having sex with a dog and having a trove of child pornography.

Prentiss Madden, 40, was arrested on Tuesday, March 16, after federal agents were tipped off by file sharing web service Dropbox.

Madden, a medical director of Caring Hands Animal Hospital in Aventura, is accused of possessing child pornography and animal abuse.

According to the Miami Herald, Madden is charged under a federal law that outlaws animal abuse, and more specifically those who video harming animals for the sexual gratification of viewers.

The tip-off from Dropbox came after it flagged up that a user had received more than 1,600 files of suspected child pornography.

Federal agents were then able to track down the address which brought them to Madden's house.

On February 24, US authorities raided his home and when searching the property discovered evidence he had discussed the sexual abuse of animals and children.

It is reported that in one chat found at his home Madden messaged someone about having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old boy from Orlando.

In further chats, Madden shared images of animal abuse and openly admit in detail to having sex with and abusing dogs.

One video found was believed to have been taken at Caring Hands Animal Hospital in May 2018. It's unclear what animals in his care may have been abused.

On Wednesday, Madden made his first appearance in court. He is currently is being held at Miami’s Federal Detention Centre.

Madden is facing charges of possession of child pornography, receipt of child pornography and animal abuse.

The charges fall under a federal law outlawing animal abuse, which was initially created in response to a genre of cruelty in which people record the harming of animals for the sexual gratification of viewers.
